Meet Blake
Our daughter, Blake, started speaking around 13 months old. She had a few words, but she wasn’t adding new words as quickly as we expected. We also noticed that she didn’t watch our lips while learning to talk the way her older brother had.
We scheduled an appointment with Help Me Grow for speech therapy, but we also did our own research. That’s how we found Dr. Elmaraghy and nurse practitioner Kelly Giroux and scheduled a consultation with their team.
Before speaking with the ENT team, we weren’t sure what to expect or whether surgery would be necessary. Blake’s hearing test showed that she could hear sounds, but we still felt something wasn’t right. Based on the ENT team’s recommendation, we learned that fluid was trapped behind her ears and preventing her from hearing speech clearly. They explained that she probably felt as though she were hearing everything underwater.
We chose in-office ear tubes, and the experience was quick and simple. Dr. Elmaraghy was incredibly professional and made the procedure feel easy for both Blake and us. Everything went very smoothly.
Within weeks, everyone noticed a major difference. Blake smiled more, became more engaged, and started trying to talk much more. She is now three years old and never stops talking. She’s hilarious and always has something to say.
We are incredibly grateful for the in-office ear tubes and for the difference they made in Blake’s early life.
