Developmental Disabilities Clinic

The Developmental Disabilities Clinic at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is dedicated to evaluating children with developmental concerns. It provides diagnostic evaluation and on going follow-up care for children with known or suspected physical and/or cognitive impairments.

Our comprehensive approach to care is provided by a multidisciplinary team – which may include a psychiatrist, developmental-behavioral pediatrician, nurse practitioner, psychologist, clinical social worker, and clinical counselor – to determine the best treatment options for each child and adolescent.

Diagnostic testing performed by the clinic usually includes a variety of developmental assessments, physical and neurodevelopmental exam and parent interview. Additional testing (labs, X-rays, etc.) may also be ordered. This clinic provides developmental and behavioral screening to identify and qualify children for specific intervention and further standardized testing: however, this clinic does not provide cognitive or academic testing. Referrals to other specialists are made as needed.

While at the clinic, families can be linked to medical, educational, social and financial resources in the community.
