August 22, 2024

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Beginning today, Nationwide Children’s Hospital will provide specialized pediatric outpatient care for the Zanesville community and surrounding areas at a new Close To HomeSM center. The new facility, located at 740 Adair Avenue in Zanesville, will offer new and expanded services, and convenient access to care under one roof.

The new Close To HomeSM center- will offer the following clinical services:

“In order to continue meeting the wide-ranging needs of patients and families, we wanted to build on our commitment to Zanesville and its surrounding communities, working alongside local partners to expand support,” said Libbey Hoang, vice president of planning and business development at Nationwide Children’s. “Our clinicians and researchers are always striving to reach our patient families where they are, and we are thrilled to be able to provide more care to families and children in their own community, near their own homes.”

Close To HomeSM centers offer community-based diagnostic and therapeutic services for newborns, children, and young adults, with services varying by location. Including the Zanesville location, Nationwide Children’s now operates 24 Close To Home℠ centers in central Ohio, with plans to open a location in Athens in fall 2024. Plans are also in development for future locations in Grove City and New Albany.

The establishment of the Zanesville Close To HomeSM center was accelerated by funding through the Health Resources and Services Administration Community Project, with the support of Congressman Troy Balderson and Senator Sherrod Brown. Nationwide Children’s has maintained a presence in Zanesville since 2012 through its partnership with Genesis Hospital, and provides pediatric hospitalists to treat Zanesville’s youngest patients. Nationwide Children’s School Health Professional Development & Consultation team has supported two local school districts, Zanesville City and Maysville Local, and Muskingum Valley Health Center in the expansion of school-based clinical services since 2022.

“This new facility is a crucial step in expanding much-needed access to specialized health care services for children in Zanesville and Muskingum County,” said Balderson, a Zanesville resident. “Having these services available in Zanesville will significantly reduce transportation barriers facing rural communities and improve health outcomes for children throughout Muskingum County.”

The Zanesville Close To HomeSM center will operate Monday through Friday with walk-in appointments available for laboratory services from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Speciality clinics will be by appointment only. For more information, call (740) 588-0237 or visit NationwideChildrens.org/Zanesville.
