Novembeard Event, Benefitting Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Begins Nov. 1

October 15, 2018

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The annual Novembeard event that raises funds for Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Hospice and Palliative Care programs begins Nov. 1. Created in 2011, Novembeard encourages men in central Ohio to make a difference in the local community.

Novembeard asks participants to fundraise throughout the month of November as they grow out their beard. “Bearders” should start with a clean-shaven face and avoid shaving for the rest of the month. To register, visit Give.NationwideChildrens.org/Novembeard.

The Novembeard kick-off party is Sunday, Oct. 28 from 1-5 p.m. at North High Brewing Taproom. The “Shave-Off” party at Fadó Irish Pub at Easton Town Center is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 29 from 6-9 p.m.

In its first year of fundraising, Novembeard raised more than $1,500 with nearly 50 “Bearders” and the support of central Ohio businesses and organizations. Since 2011, the charity has raised more than $140,000 with hundreds of participants and has continued to grow through the partnership with Nationwide Children’s Pleasure Guild.

The Hospice Program at Nationwide Children’s serves to provide children with life-limiting illnesses the opportunities to play, laugh, learn and remain home where they may be surrounded by family and friends. Offered to children and families, either inpatient or living at home, the goal of the hospital’s Palliative Care Program is to help patients achieve the best possible quality of life.
