WHY: The mission of the Spirit of Children program is to make hospitals less scary for kids and their families by providing fun during Halloween. Spirit of Children supports 139 hospitals across the country and Canada through fundraising in their Spirit Halloween stores each fall. This past October, Spirit of Children hosted a Halloween celebration at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, providing hundreds of costumes and goodie bags to patients thanks to the generosity of local Spirit Halloween stores and their vendor partners. Since 2010, Spirit of Children has donated $220,208 to Nationwide Children’s and has raised nearly $37 million on behalf of all 139 hospitals it supports since fundraising began in 2007.
