Nationwide Childrens Hospital Appoints Charles Elmaraghy, MD, Chief of Pediatric Otolaryngology

Charles Elmaraghy, MD, has recently been appointed chief of the Department of Otolaryngology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Elmaraghy has served as interim chief since 2011, and is a faculty member in the Department of Otolaryngology and was recently promoted to Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
 
Dr. Elmaraghy’s clinical interests include sinus surgery, airway problems, head and neck masses and general pediatric otolaryngology. He is the medical student advisor for ENT students entering the field and is active in  resident and fellow education at Nationwide Children’s.
 
“We looked across the entire country to identify the rising stars in pediatric otolaryngology and found that the best person to lead us into the future was already here,” said Larry Moss, MD, surgeon-in-chief. “I am very happy that Dr. Elmaraghy has chosen to continue his distinguished career at Nationwide Children’s.”
 
Dr. Elmaraghy completed his fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. after completing his Otolaryngology residency at Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University. His academic distinctions include graduating summa cum laude from The Ohio State University, OSU College of Medicine, as well as having achieved the highest USMLE Step 1 score in the nation in 1998. He was valedictorian at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2000 and achieved the highest score in the nation in 2004 on the annual otolaryngology in-service examination. He has published multiple research studies and is frequently invited to deliver lectures around the country.
