More than 100 students participated in the 2015 Spring Middle School Career Day, Presented by Time Warner Cable, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital May 15. The workshops, developed and coordinated by the Community Education program at Nationwide Children’s, provided many central Ohio students an opportunity to gain valuable information about specific careers in health care. Time Warner Cable, the presenting sponsor, generously donated monetary and in-kind gifts totaling $7,000 and the volunteer services of Time Warner Cable associates for the program that also aligns with the cable company’s Connect a Million Minds initiative.
Students between the sixth and eighth grades engaged in workshops designed specifically to increase students’ understanding, interests, motivation and career awareness in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). These fun, interactive workshops focused on the areas of radiology, sports medicine and respiratory care. Additionally, students were able to see how Nationwide Children’s employees contribute to the health and well-being of patients and families.
