Pleasure Guild of Nationwide Childrens Hospital Call for Willy Wonka Auditions, Now through November 10

September 23, 2014

To support central Ohio’s only pediatric hospice and palliative care program, Pleasure Guild of Nationwide Children’s Hospital will present Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Feb. 27-28 and March 1, 2015 at Columbus’ historic Palace Theatre, located at 34 W. Broad St. The annual family-friendly, high-quality production benefits children for whom a cure is beyond reach.

With more than 20 years of performances at the Palace Theatre, Willy Wonka is Pleasure Guild’s 58th production. The annual play is Pleasure Guild’s feature fund-raising event. Pleasure Guild members presented a check totaling over $255,000 to the hospital in 2013. Since the organization’s inception, Pleasure Guild has contributed more than $4 million to Nationwide Children’s.

“The work being done by the Hospice and Palliative Care programs at Nationwide Children’s changes lives. It transcends the walls of the hospital and lands in people’s homes,” Pleasure Guild President Michelle Montgomery said. “They touch all areas of their patient’s families' lives – logistical, medical, emotional and spiritual. They are there for families in countless, concrete ways, when families need them most. We are delighted for the opportunity to help support them for another year."

About Hospice & Palliative Care
Nationwide Children’s Hospice was established in 1995 and has served hundreds of children, select adults and their families. Nationwide Children’s Hospice is the only hospice program in Central Ohio that is focused exclusively on meeting the special needs of the pediatric population. The program takes care of children for whom a cure is beyond reach. The Palliative Care Program at Nationwide Children’s expands the caring and compassionate services currently provided by the hospice team, and serves families earlier on their journey. The program focuses on the quality of life of both the patient and their entire family fulfilling the Family-Centered Care model pioneered by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and now the standard of pediatric care.
