May 1, 2014

Mary Rutan Hospital is proud to be partnering with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to bring additional resources and care to pediatric and neonatal patients.

The collaboration offers increased access for area residents to Nationwide Children’s Hospital pediatric specialists and extends state-of-the-art pediatric research and clinical trials. In addition, Mary Rutan Hospital physicians receive advanced education and training as well as direct consultation with specialists at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

“We consider it our responsibility to make sure our community has access to the best care possible, and this new affiliation will help us do just that,” Mandy Goble, President and CEO, said “By combining the resources and expertise of Nationwide Children’s Hospital with that of our current physicians and staff, we can bring our patients an expanded level of pediatric care and service.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Mary Rutan Hospital to enhance neonatal and pediatric care in Logan County and the surrounding communities,” said Gil Peri, vice president of regional development at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  “Our neonatologists and pediatric sub-specialists are looking forward to working with the hospital and community physicians to improve the health of the kids we serve.”

Mary Rutan Hospital’s physician and nursing teams will collaborate on protocol development, education initiatives, neonatal nursery telemedicine support and clinic development. As part of the affiliation, MRH will be able to directly consult with specialists at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Mary Rutan Hospital’s medical staff will also benefit from training and mentoring programs as well as state-of-the-art pediatric research and clinical trials.

“Together, we will build upon the tremendous care already provided by our current staff,” Goble said. “We will be able to provide even greater care by taking advantage of Nationwide Children’s telemedicine services and pediatric and neonatology expertise, optimizing care for the children and families in our community.”

In addition to the new partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Mary Rutan Hospital Pediatrics is undergoing a large expansion and remodeling of their Dowell Avenue facility that will more than double the size of their space.  The new facility space will offer increased waiting areas, new equipment, additional treatment rooms, extended evening and morning hours and flexible walk-in options throughout the day.  Over the past year, Mary Rutan Hospital Pediatrics has grown to include four physicians and four nurse practitioners.  With the increase in facility space, extended hours and additional practitioners, Mary Rutan Hospital Pediatrics has the capacity to accept new patients and can be reached by calling 937-593-5437.
