2013 Technology Showcase Presented by The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital

The Office of Technology Commercialization in The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital will present the “2013 Technology Showcase” Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Research Building III, 575 Children’s Crossroad (just west of Nationwide Children’s on the corner of Livingston and Parsons avenues).

The event is open to the public and the program will feature networking opportunities as well as the actual Technology Showcase, during which researchers and inventors from Nationwide Children’s will present research and technology that has high commercialization potential through both existing companies and new startups. Researchers and licensing associates will be available to answer questions and provide licensing and commercialization details.

The keynote speaker for the event will be David Scholl, Ph.D., partner, Athenian Venture Partners (AVP), presenting “Lessons Learned and Development Strategies for Researchers and Life Science Companies.” AVP is a venture capital firm that makes investments in private, high growth potential, technology based companies in the Information Technology and Biomedical Sciences sphere. Scholl serves on the boards of the Ohio Third Frontier Commission, BioOhio, Ohio University’s Edison Biotechnology Institute and Manasseh Cutler Scholars Program. He is also a trustee of Ohio University and the Ohio University Foundation and has nearly 30 years of life sciences experience in research and development, executive management and venture capital.

Technologies presented at the event will include gene therapy strategies, novel compositions and methods for removal of biofilms, a comprehensive analysis pipeline for discovery of human genetic variation, diagnostic biomarkers for diseases of the urinary tract and medical device innovations.
