IGS Energy to serve as title sponsor for the Memorial Tournaments annual benefit concert through 2015

May 16, 2012

The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance announced today that IGS Energy has extended its title sponsorship of the Tournament’s annual benefit concert through 2015. The new four-year agreement enhances IGS Energy’s commitment to a charity event that has raised more than $375,000 since it began in 2007. All proceeds from the concert benefit the Memorial Tournament Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital through an alliance with the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.

IGS Energy has been a trusted energy provider since 1989 and is one of the nation’s largest independent retail suppliers of natural gas and electricity. The Columbus, Ohio based industry leader has been the title sponsor of the benefit concert since 2010.

“IGS Energy has been pleased to be the title sponsor of the benefit concert for the last two years and we are very proud to support such a worthy cause,” said Doug Austin, Executive Vice President of IGS Energy. “We hope our continued commitment will foster sustained growth in the concert experience and in turn raise more money for the Memorial Tournament NICU at Nationwide Children’s through the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation alliance.”

“The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance is proud to partner with IGS Energy and City of Dublin in hosting the annual benefit concert,” said Tournament executive director Dan Sullivan. “The concert has enjoyed tremendous success over the past five years, and with the renewed support of IGS Energy we’re looking forward to building on that momentum to generate increased donations for the alliance between the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.”

In June of 2010 a new charitable alliance was announced among the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. The relationship brings to life the alliance between Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation for the benefit and advancement of pediatric care. With this aligned vision, all proceeds of the concert will directly benefit the young patients served each day by the Memorial Tournament Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The goal is not only to support but also to provide opportunity to advance the incredible care given in the most needed areas of the Hospital.

The Memorial Tournament NICU is a family-centered environment that provides the finest medical care for premature and sick infants. The NICU is one of the largest neonatal networks in the country and was ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of “America’s Best” in Neonatal Care and Services. Rigorously trained neonatologists, advanced practice nurses and therapists utilize an interdisciplinary care approach to diagnose and treat patients suffering from complex birth defects, respiratory distress and metabolic diseases. This combined expertise makes the Memorial Tournament NICU one of the finest in the nation.

The concert, which is presented by City of Dublin, features former front-man and pianist for Ben Folds Five and accomplished solo artist, Ben Folds. Now in its sixth year, former acts to headline the annual benefit concert include: Bruce Hornsby (2007), Rusted Root (2008), Robert Randolf & The Family Band (2009), B-52s (2010) and OAR (2011).
