'Grab the Bull by the Horns' and Take On This Year's Bull Run

August 5, 2011

The 8th Annual Bull Run, presented by Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, will kick off Saturday, August 6, 2011 at McPherson Commons, also known as Arch Park, located at 218 West Street in Columbus.

Participants will be uniting for one goal – to raise money for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Proceeds help support the annual Hematology/Oncology & BMT camp which is offered free of charge for patients, volunteers and staff of Nationwide Children’s. From fishing and campfires, to building lasting friendships, patients are able to take a break from the rigors of treatment for a special weekend filled with camp activities.

The annual 5K race will take participants through the heart of downtown Columbus. Family entertainment, free food and music will be provided before and after the race. A separate race just for kids, the Kids Fun Run, will begin just prior to the Bull Run.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with the Kids Fun Run starting at 8:30 a.m. followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Registration fees are $15/person for the Kids Fun Run and $25/person for the 5K ($30 July 31 and after). Fees include a technical shirt, medal, food and family activities.

Since its inception in 2004, the Bull Run has raised more than $400,000 for Nationwide Children’s. Aided by the support of the community, the Bull Run has brought comfort and cures to hundreds of kids in the community.
