Public Invited to Join Credit Unions for Marching Miles Event to Support Nationwide Childrens Hospital

April 1, 2011

Credit Unions throughout Columbus and surrounding areas are hosting a walk to benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  Anyone interested in contributing is encouraged to participate in the walk to be held on Monday, April 4.

“Credit unions believe strongly in giving back to the communities they serve,” said Paul Bohlman, Business Development Officer for Ohio HealthCare Federal Credit Union.   “Credit unions contribute millions to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals nationwide, and this is our unique approach to raising funds for the hospital in our back yard.”

Public is invited to take part in the Marching Miles walk, which will kick off at 10 a.m. at the Westerville Sports Complex located at 325 N. Cleveland Avenue in Westerville (across from the Westerville Rec Center).   Participants will walk approximately 3 miles, but have the option of walking a shorter or longer distance if they choose.  Participants must register individually, and can do so by visiting www.MarchingMiles.com/columbus.htm.  All registrants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $10 to participate in the walk.

Snacks will be provided and all participating fundraisers will receive a t-shirt.  Following the event, participants and guests will be encouraged to eat lunch or dinner at City Barbecue (600 S. State Street in Westerville) where 25% of their purchase (must present flyer available online at the website mentioned above) will be donated to Marching Miles.

Marching Miles sponsors include CUNA Mutual Group, Co-Op Financial Service, OCUL Services Corporation, Frost Financial Services, and Costco.

Credit unions benefit Ohioans by making credit and other financial services affordable and accessible.  To find a credit union you can join, go to www.FindACreditUnion.com.
