More than 60 pediatric cancer survivors and their families are expected to gather for Nationwide
Children’s Hospital Survivorship Celebration 1 - 5 p.m. Sunday at Homestead Park in Hilliard. The Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation staff will join in the reunion as they welcome back the children they once cared for to celebrate their lives.

In addition to the reunion festivities, a one-mile walk, slated to begin at 1:30 p.m., will be held to help fund the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) of which Nationwide Children’s is a member. The COG is an international organization that design, review and revise protocols for treating children, adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer, all with the end goal to improve survival rates and quality of life for patients.

Each year, more than 150 patients are diagnosed with cancer at Nationwide Children’s. And with total inpatient admissions and outpatient visits exceeding 13,000 annually, Hematology/Oncology & BMT at Nationwide Children’s is the largest facility of its kind in Ohio and one of the largest in the United States.

Nationwide Children’s is consistently ranked as one of the top pediatric cancer hospitals in the country, and is designated as a National Institutes of Health Comprehensive Cancer Center. It is home to the Biopathology Center, the largest pediatric tumor registry in the country.
