Ohio Credit Unions Set to March from Columbus to Cincinnati to Raise Funds for Ohios Childrens Hospitals

March 24, 2010

Ohio credit unions will kick-off their annual “Marching Miles for Miracle Kids” at noon Sunday, March 28 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Dublin Close To HomeSM Center with Urgent Care located at 5675 Venture Dr. in Dublin. The event features photos with the Easter Bunny, balloons, music entertainment and words of encouragement from the Mayor of Dublin, Timothy A. Lecklider.

Marching Miles for Miracle Kids is a statewide initiative aimed to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network and Ohio’s six children’s hospitals. Credit union staff, volunteers, members and the general public are encouraged to participate as marchers or sponsors with a collective goal to raise $100,000. Since its inception in 2007, Ohio credit unions have raised more than $260,000 for children’s hospitals in Ohio.

The 170+ mile march will begin March 28 in Dublin, Ohio, and proceed through April 15 down to Cincinnati. Each day, marchers will complete a leg of the journey traveling an average of 10 miles/day.

“A fundraising event of this magnitude is a great display of the cooperative spirit embraced by Ohio’s credit unions,” said Paul Mercer, president of the Ohio Credit Union League. “We are proud to support the Children’s Miracle Network. I extend my appreciation to credit union staff and volunteers who are helping to make this year’s Marching Miles for Miracle Kids a tremendous success.”
