Brilli Appointed Chief Medical Officer at Nationwide Children's Hospital

Richard J. Brilli, M.D., has been appointed Chief Medical Officer at Nationwide Childrens Hospital, effective August 1. 

Brilli currently serves as Associate Chief of Staff, Clinical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for Graduate Medical Education and Co-Chair of the Inpatient Clinical Systems Improvement Team at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. 

Having accumulated a wealth of general pediatric, pediatric critical care and transport medicine experience, both clinical and academic, Brilli is nationally known for his leadership in safety and quality initiatives.

Prior to joining Cincinnati Childrens in 1994, Brilli held a number of positions with Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey, including Director of Pediatric Emergency Transport Services and Medical Director of the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit.  He served in the U.S. Navy for more than ten years including stints as Director of Critical Care Medicine at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and Head of Pediatrics at the Naval Regional Medical Clinic in New Orleans.  He received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine and completed a Pediatric Residency and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital.  Brilli will be joined in Columbus by his wife, Cindy, and three children.
