The fourth-annual Merrill Lynch Bull Run 5K Run/Walk is set to trounce the streets of Columbus on Saturday, August 11 with registration beginning at 8 a.m. in downtowns Arena District. Activities begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Kids Fun Run, followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. a 3.1 mile-certified 2 loop course throughout downtown.
During the event, appearances will be made by Columbus Zoos traveling animals and Columbus firefighters. Music, food and assorted childrens activities from the Columbus Museum of Art will also be available.
Since its inception, the Merrill Lynch Bull Run has raised over $132,000, with proceeds going to pediatric cancer research at Columbus Childrens Hospital and other charitable organizations.
This year, a portion of the proceeds from the Bull Run will also benefit the new Ocean Room at Childrens Hospital. The Ocean Room, a free toy store, was created and carried out by a group of sixth-graders from Columbus Academy. The Ocean Room is a place where young surgery patients can pick out a toy to cuddle with post-surgery.
