Circle of Friends, a volunteer organization of Columbus Children’s Hospital, announces its 2007 events presented by Merrill Lynch. Proceeds from both events will benefit the Center for Childhood Cancer at Columbus Children’s Research Institute.
“A Casual Evening under the Stars…” will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 15 at the Wexner Party Barn in New Albany. The public is invited to support the search for cures of childhood cancer and enjoy a casual evening of music, food and fun. The event, themed to “Play and Pay It Forward,” will feature Italian cuisine by BRIO Tuscan Grille, entertainment, a live auction and a raffle. The cost is $100 per person and $150 per couple. On Tuesday, June 12, Circle of Friends will host the fifth annual “Run for the Rainbow” 5K Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run at New Albany Market Square. The walk/run will begin at 7 p.m. Entry fees are $25 for the 5K Walk/Run and $15 for the Kids Fun Run. After June 10, registration fees are $30 and $20 respectively.

About Circle of Friends
In 1994, a small group of friends gathered in the New Albany home of Tom and Susie Puleri for a summer party. A fishbowl placed on the table for donations had collected $300 by night’s end, marking the beginning of what would become Circle of Friends.
The gathering began as a grassroots celebration of Tom and Susie’s niece Angela Weber and her remission from childhood leukemia. It took on new meaning in 1998 when Angie’s 6-year-old friend, Aaron Kraut lost his four-and-a-half-year battle with the same disease. In 2006, Circle of Friends raised more than $270,000 for the Center for Childhood Cancer at Columbus Children’s Hospital.
Children’s Hospital treats more than 150 newly diagnosed children with cancer every year, making it one of the largest pediatric cancer care centers in the nation. The support of friends and donors enables Children’s to provide lifesaving medical care to all children and conduct research aimed at eliminating childhood cancer.
