OSU Alum, Milwaukee Bucks Player Michael Redd Honorary Chair of Woody Hayes Celebrity Golf Classic

May 3, 2007

Legendary Buckeye football coach Woody Hayes taught those he coached to pay forward. Student-athletes at The Ohio State University (OSU) have since continued that tradition off the field/court and in their communities. Michael Redd, former guard on the Buckeye mens basketball squad (1997-2000) and currently a guard for the National Basketball Association Milwaukee Bucks, is doing just that as he accepted honorary chairmanship of the 31st Annual Woody Hayes Celebrity Golf Classic.

The annual golf event, slated for June 25 at the New Albany Country Club, is organized by the Development Board of Columbus Childrens Hospital and raises money to help child-abuse treatment and prevention programs in central Ohio. This years proceeds will benefit the Center for Child and Family Advocacy, a partnership between Columbus Childrens Hospital and the Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence.

There are various opportunities to participate in the 2007 Woody Hayes Celebrity Golf Classic. The two most popular options are as follows: Scarlet Teams ($3,000 team registration) will consist of players of four and the Gray Teams ($1,500 team registration) will include players of two. Foursomes will be paired with a local media or sports celebrity. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available beginning at the $4,000 level.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the driving range open to participants for practice. The shot-gun start will begin at 11 a.m.

All golfers will receive lunch, dinner, drinks and a registration gift package. Two tickets will be given to each golfer for the Kick-Off Party held June 24 at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Café. The Kick-Off Party includes cocktails, hors doeuvres and a silent and live auction.
