Childrens Miracle Network Telethon June 2-3

May 18, 2007

Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Telethon celebrates its 25th anniversary on air with WBNS10-TV Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3, 2007.  All local segments of the Telethon will be broadcast live from Columbus Children’s Hospital – offering a “behind the scenes” view -- from 8 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Telethon local hosts will be Andrea Cambern, Jerry Revish, Angela Pace, John Fortney, Chris Bradley, Mike Davis, Janet Watkins, Heather Pick, Jeff Hogan and Arica Robbins.  All local donations made through the Telethon will benefit Columbus Children’s Hospital, where more than 700,000 patient visits were recorded last year alone.

The public is invited to attend the Telethon as part of the live studio audience at Children’s Hospital.  Space is limited; thus, interested persons may log on to www.nationwidechildrens.org/telethon for more information and to reserve a seat.

National portions of the 2007 CMN Telethon will originate at Walt Disney World in Orlando and will air from midnight to 9 a.m. on Sunday.  The Telethon is designed to honor and celebrate the 17 million young patients treated in CMN-affiliated hospitals each year and those who directly or indirectly help sick and injured kids – hospitals, doctors, nurses and other staff members; donors; corporate sponsors and volunteers.

CMN has raised more than $3.2 billion for children’s hospitals since its inception in 1983.  Now the largest television fund raiser in the world, 170 children’s hospitals throughout  North America benefit from the annual CMN Telethon.  Each year, these non-profit hospitals treat all children regardless of ability to pay and provide more than $4 billion in charitable care.

CMN’s hallmark is that 100 percent of locally-generated donations stay in the community in which they were made.  More than $8 million was donated to Columbus Children’s Hospital through the 2006 CMN Telethon, indicating a deep concern and commitment by Central Ohioans to the health and well-being of children.
