Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon Slated for April 19-21

April 16, 2007

Tune in! And turn it up! Radio One Columbus goes on the air to fight childhood cancer Thursday, April 19 through Saturday, April 21. Columbus Childrens Hospital is the beneficiary of the three-day 2nd Annual Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon to support its cancer and blood disease programs and research. The event will broadcast over Radio Ones three local stations: Power 107.5, Joy 106.3 and Magic 98.9. The Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon will be live Thursday and Friday at Childrens Hospital. On Saturday, it will be live from the City Center Mall in downtown Columbus.

The Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon provides an opportunity for Childrens Hospital to benefit from an event that will showcase the extensive reach of its cancer program. With 106 new diagnoses every year, nationally recognized Columbus Childrens Hospital has the largest childhood cancer center in Ohio. More than 1,000 children are in various stages of cancer treatment at Childrens Hospital.

The Radiothon will seek to increase community awareness on the many challenges that surround childhood cancer, as well as raise much-needed funds.

Paul Strong, morning show host from Power 107.5, is honored to participate in the Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon.

I have a deep respect for the children Ive met and their parents, Strong said. I have three children of my own and I can only imagine how difficult it would be to receive this kind of devastating news. We are fortunate to have a hospital the caliber of Childrens right here in Columbus.

Last year, callers from the central Ohio community raised more than $90,000 during the Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon for Columbus Childrens Hospital cancer and blood disease programs and research.

Childrens Hospital and Radio One Columbus invites the public to make an impact. Listen for patients stories about their struggles with cancer, learn how to aid in the fight against childhood cancer and call 1-888-780-8811 to make a gift.
