Biography

Rana Naous, MD, is a board-certified surgical pathologist specializing in Bone and Soft Tissue pathology and Cytopathology. Dr. Naous received her medical degree in 2008 from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, where she also completed two years of Anatomic Pathology (AP) residency training. Dr. Naous then finished her 4-year AP/CP residency training (June 2014) at University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center followed by completing one year of Bone and Soft Tissue pathology fellowship training (June 2015) at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. After which Dr. Naous completed two other fellowships in Cytopathology and Hematopathology at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY (July 2016- June 2017), and is board-certified in both Cytopathology and Hematopathology.

Dr. Naous was a staff pathologist at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2020. Dr. Naous then received her primary appointment as a staff pathologist at UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Shadyside on July 1, 2020 where she also served as the director of the Bone and Soft tissue pathology (BST) fellowship program for five consecutive years. Dr. Naous then joined the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s hospital systems in September 2025 where she works in Bone and Soft tissue pathology and Cytopathology divisions. Dr. Naous has authored over 65 peer-reviewed publications, and her research mainly focuses on implementation of cyto/histo-morphology, cytogenetics and molecular testing as diagnostic and prognostic tools in both cytopathology and bone and soft tissue tumors.
