Arash Salavitabar, MD, is a congenital interventional cardiologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Pennsylvania State University, after which he completed his residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at Columbia University Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident and chief fellow. He then completed an advanced fellowship in Congenital Interventional Cardiology at Nationwide Children's.
As the founding Director of The Heart Center XR Program, he leads the development and use of extended reality technologies for periprocedural guidance, simulation, medical education and patient counseling.
Dr. Salavitabar’s research interests include clinical trials and preclinical studies in the following areas:
- High-risk interventions in neonatal congenital heart disease
- Outcomes of transcatheter valve implantation and stent angioplasty of aortic coarctation in children and adults
- Development of new transcatheter devices
- Implantable hemodynamic monitoring devices
