Biography

Dr. Alana Leever, PsyD, is a pediatric psychologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and clinical associate professor at the Ohio State University. She serves as the team psychologist to the Division of Rheumatology and specializes in supporting children and teens affected by rheumatic diseases. Dr. Leever promotes the dissemination of evidence-based psychological services into pediatric rheumatology clinics, helping youth to manage chronic pain, cope with mental and physical illness, and navigate medical procedures. As an educator, Dr. Leever mentors psychology trainees and rheumatology fellows, teaches medical teams and residents, and conducts research focused on rheumatology mental health and pediatric pain management. She is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA), APA Division 54 (Society of Pediatric Psychology), the Ohio Psychological Association (OPA), and the Childhood Arthritis & Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA). Dr. Leever serves as co-chair of the Rheumatology Special Interest Group within the Society of Pediatric Psychology. She also leads the mental health screening and implementation subinterest group through the Childhood Arthritis & Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) mental health workgroup.
