Here are five things to know prior to surgery.

  1. You will be called a few days prior to your procedure to review your child’s NPO guidelines. These guidelines tell you when your child should stop eating and drinking prior to their procedure. It is very important to follow these guidelines for your child’s safety.
  2. Wash with unscented soaps and avoid lotion the night prior to your procedure.
  3. The morning of your procedure wear loose clothing to the hospital and leave all jewelry at home. This includes body piercings.
  4. Your child can bring a comfort item from home! This can include a lovey or a blanket and it will go back with them all the way to the OR.
  5. Parents will be able to walk back to the double doors prior to the child’s procedure. After that, we’ll take it from there! We will provide your child with excellent patient care during their procedure.
