FDA Grants Nationwide Children’s Hospital Researchers Safe-To-Proceed Authorization on First-In-World CAR-NK Cells Made with CRISPR/AAV
Researchers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital have received safe-to-proceed approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Universal-Donor CD38KO CD33CAR-NK cells, to be studied in a forthcoming clinical trial. The Phase 1 trial will study the safety of the novel therapy in patients with advanced, high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. announced today that it has pledged $15 million over a period of six years to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Kids Mental Health Foundation to support behavioral health initiatives for children and young adults in central Ohio and across the country.

Study Shows Sharp Rise in Rate of Water Bead Ingestions Among Young Children
Researchers at the Center for Injury Research and Policy of the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Central Ohio Poison Center analyzed calls to U.S. poison centers and found an alarming 6,532% increase in the rate of reported water bead ingestions among children younger than 6 years from 2019 to 2023, followed by a 24% decrease from 2023 to 2024.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Announces Plans to Dedicate the Abigail Wexner Research Institute
Ms. Wexner’s partnership with her fellow board members, Chief Executive Officer Steve Allen, MD, and the Nationwide Children’s executive team made this evolution possible. In recognition of Dr. Allen’s role, Nationwide Children’s will also establish the Allen Distinguished Scholar in Pediatric Research.
