(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Nationwide Children’s Hospital will celebrate fall and neighborhood wellness with the Linden community during a free Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families Fall Festival on Saturday, November 4.
“Our fall festival provides a place for the Linden community to gather and connect with neighbors and learn about local resources, while children have some fall fun,” said Nick Jones, vice president of community wellness at Nationwide Children’s. “We have been a part of the neighborhood for the past 25 years and we want to continue that strong sense of community.”
Starting at 11 a.m., friends and family of the Linden neighborhood are invited to connect during this fall-themed event near the Linden Fresh Market with food trucks, inflatables, face painting, music, giveaways and more. Children can get an up-close look at a fire truck and watch a special performance from the Linden-McKinley STEM Academy cheerleaders, followed by the school’s marching band.
Nationwide Children’s Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families initiative started in 2008 to help strengthen the health of neighborhoods and the health of families and children by addressing factors that impact health including affordable housing, education, health and wellness, community enrichment and economic development. The initiative connects families with programs and resources that help benefit children’s mental and physical health.
Local organizations such as the Linden Fresh Market and Charitable Pharmacy of Central Ohio, Remember Us Urban Legends, the Columbus Department of Neighborhoods, the Columbus Metropolitan Library, CelebrateOne, Be SMART and the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department will provide free resources for families. Nationwide Children’s Mobile Care Center will provide immunizations, and Linden Primary Care Center will give away winter accessories. Other partners include the Columbus Division of Fire, Directions for Youth and Families, Linden-McKinley STEM Academy, and Oakland Park Nursery.
This event will occur rain or shine, along Chittenden Avenue next to the Linden Fresh Market, 1464 Cleveland Ave. Free parking will be available at the COTA building (1390 Cleveland Ave.), a short walk from the Fresh Market.
