MEDIA ADVISORY: Nationwide Children's Hospital Dedicates Family Lounge in CTICU in Honor of Kroger

Nationwide Children’s Hospital sees nearly 1 million patient visits every year. With a history of support, Kroger will present a $460,959.82 check to further Nationwide Children’s efforts to provide the highest quality of care for all children regardless of their ability to pay. Of this amount, $200,000 represents a Kroger match.

Check presentation will coincide with the dedication of the family lounge in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Nationwide Children’s, which is being named in honor of Kroger to recognize the grocer’s continuing support. Families will find respite in the comfortably appointed lounge as their child recovers from heart surgery in a nearby patient room. 

What:
Presentation of a $460,959.82 check from Kroger to Nationwide Children’s Hospital; dedication of family lounge in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, which will be named in honor of Kroger for its ongoing support.

Opportunity to photograph check presentation and dedication, conduct interviews with Bruce Macaulay, president, The Kroger Co., Columbus Division, who will present the check, and Steve Allen, MD, chief executive officer for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Kroger associates who championed the latest fundraiser “Kids Come First” in their stores will also be present.

Media arrive by 1:10 p.m., check presentation ceremony begins at 1:20 p.m.

Media representatives should park in the gated surface lot accessible off of Parsons Avenue, located between Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Orthopedic Center and its new research building. Media representatives will park in this lot and cross Parsons to the new main hospital lobby where a member of the hospital media relations team will meet you at the welcome desk for escort to the event location.
