ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition will host its 3rd Annual Bariatric Surgery Celebration for patients and their families on Monday, December 10 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

This event is hosted by the staff of the Center to celebrate the many accomplishments that patients have achieved over the last year. These patients have started to live a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise – some have had surgery, some have not. The staff will be baking healthy dessert options for the patients and their families.

Every patient who attends will receive a certificate of achievement award. There will also be two special awards presented during the event – the “Giving Back” award is presented to the patient who has given up their time to help others with their weight loss issues; the “Support Person of the Year” award is given to a parent or support person who has helped make patients successful by making clinic appointments, support meetings and by living a healthy lifestyle.

The Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition offers a comprehensive approach to weight management in children, including programs for both prevention and treatment. For children who are already overweight, the center offers family-based Medical Weight Management Programs covering everyday diet and fitness education to re-establish a more healthy weight. Ultimately, some children's complications may necessitate a surgical approach. The Center offers three options for those who meet the criteria: gastric bypass, gastric band and gastric sleeve surgery.
