Kroger Delivering Joy to Central Ohio Area Hospitals, Care Centers for Mother's Day

May 9, 2012

Patients in various hospitals around Ohio will get a surprise delivery this Friday. Kroger associates will hand deliver 18,000 five-stem carnation bouquets on behalf of Kroger customers as part of the “Your Day in May” campaign on Friday, May 11.

From April 29 to May 10, customers could participate in the “Your Day in May” program by picking up a card in the floral department at a local Kroger store and donating $3 at the checkout. Kroger is delivering a carnation bouquet for every “Your Day in May” bouquet purchased by its customers this Friday to hospitals, hospices and community centers.

Some of those bouquets will make their way to tiny hands at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where the patients can keep the flowers for themselves, or pass them on to mom for Mother’s Day.  Kroger associates will make the delivery to Nationwide Children’s Hospital at 11 a.m. Friday.

“Kroger is excited to have the opportunity to spread a little cheer this spring by delivering flower bouquets to local hospitals and other care centers,” said Bruce Macaulay, president, The Kroger Co., Columbus Division. “We thank our customers for their generosity and for making these flower donations possible.”

In 2011, Kroger customers donated more than 12,000 bouquets during the “Your Day in May” program. The grocer conducted a similar “Heart 2 Heart” campaign for Valentine’s Day earlier this year and hand delivered 65,000 Mylar balloons to area health care and family centers.
