Eleventh Annual Central Ohio Conference on Grief Offers Free Community Seminar

COLUMBUS, OH - 4/21/2009

A free community seminar, “Healing Through the Dark Nights of the Soul,” will be offered Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 7 p.m. to anyone experiencing grief.  The community seminar is offered as part of the 11th Annual Central Ohio Conference on Grief which will be held Friday, April 24, 2009, and is entitled, “Healing Through Grief : Perspectives From Culture & Spirituality.” The free community seminar and the one day professional conference will feature Richard Groves, JCL, MA, M.Div. at the Quest Conference Centers, 8405 Pulsar Place in Columbus.

Groves is an international speaker who presents a variety of educational and spiritual development programs for health care institutions, faith communities of all traditions and the general public.  He has earned graduate degrees in theology, ethics, pastoral counseling and law.  His doctoral research focuses on cultural and inter-faith perspectives regarding the sacred art of living and dying.

The mission of the annual grief conference is to combine the resources of Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service and Central Ohio non-profit hospice organizations to educate professional caregivers and the public on grief and bereavement issues.

Continuing education credits are offered through the Conference for clergy, educators, licensed funeral directors, counselors/social workers, nurses and Ohio psychologists.  The Conference is sponsored by Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service, Berger Hospice, HomeReach Hospice, Hospice of Central Ohio, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Hospice, The Mount Carmel Hospice and Zusman Community Hospice.
