Biography

Yafet T. Mamo, MD, is a transfusion medicine and therapeutic apheresis physician at Nationwide Children's Hospital. He serves in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine & Division of Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. Dr. Mamo received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He then completed a clinical pathology residency at Wake Forest Baptist Atrium Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He furthered his training with a transfusion medicine fellowship at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Mamo's clinical and scholarly interests include blood donor and recipient-related factors associated with transfusion efficacy, quality improvement of transfusion medicine and apheresis services in resource-limited countries and trainee education.

Dr. Mamo specializes in apheresis.
