Yafet T. Mamo, MD, is a transfusion medicine and therapeutic apheresis physician at Nationwide Children's Hospital. He serves in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine & Division of Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at Nationwide Children’s and is an assistant professor at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Mamo received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He then completed a clinical pathology residency at Wake Forest Baptist Atrium Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He furthered his training with a transfusion medicine fellowship at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Mamo's clinical and scholarly interests include blood donor and recipient-related factors associated with transfusion efficacy, quality improvement of transfusion medicine and apheresis services in resource-limited countries and trainee education.
