Biography

Vilmarie Rodriguez, MD is the Director of the Thrombosis and Anticoagulation Program, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics, The Ohio State University.  She is the Associate Director of the Joan Hemostasis and Thrombosis Fellowship. She has previously worked as a pediatric hematologist-oncologist (20 years) at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN where she directed the Pediatric Hemophilia Center.

Dr. Rodriguez academic interests are clinical research in the areas of pediatric thrombosis, post-thrombotic syndrome, and bleeding disorders.  Another area of interest is Patient Safety and Quality Improvement for which she has and is currently leading several quality improvement initiatives within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT and across Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She has successfully mentored medical students, pediatric residents, and hematology trainees throughout her clinical career, in several clinical research and quality improvement projects that have resulted in publications and national/international scientific presentations.
