Biography

Matthew Schultz, PhD, is a clinical laboratory director in the Institute of Genomic Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital and an assistant professor at the Ohio State University in the Department of Pathology. He earned his PhD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine studying tumor glycosylation. He was awarded the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and the Society for Glycobiology Young Investigator Award. Next he completed ABMGG fellowships at Mayo Clinic first in Biochemical Genetics then Molecular Genetics and Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. He is ABMGG board certified in Biochemical and Molecular Genetics and a member of the American College of Medical Genetics. His interests include newborn screening, metabolic disease, molecular testing, and test development.
