Biography

Matthew A. Deitemyer, RN, BSN, CES-A, is a Mechanical Circulatory Support Coordinator at The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capital University in 2007. His nursing career began as a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric and Cardiac Intensive Care Units at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 2007. Matt joined the ECMO Team in 2010 as an ECMO Specialist and became an ECMO Primer in 2012. In addition to his role at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Matt furthered his ECMO knowledge and experience with ECMO Advantage from 2012-2015 as a traveling ECMO Specialist. In 2015, Matt transitioned to the Mechanical Circulatory Support Coordinator role overseeing the Mechanical Circulatory Support Team. In addition to his other duties, Matt took on the role of VAD Coordinator in 2020. Matt has authored and coauthored several publications, as well as presented to audiences on his research. His research interests focus on development of improved techniques and best practices for extracorporeal life support and mechanical assist devices.
