Biography

Laura Rust, MD, MPH, is a pediatric emergency medicine physician and informaticist in the Division of Clinical Informatics as well as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Rust earned her medical degree from the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2009. She completed her pediatric residency, chief residency, and pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital joining as faculty in 2016.

Dr. Rust focuses much of her work in the areas of predictive analytics, opioid stewardship, clinical pathways, and improving provider efficiency and handoff communication. She serves as one of the co-medical directors for Nationwide Children’s Clinical Pathways Program to optimize decision support and EHR build to enhance pathway utilization and compliance while also supporting outcome reporting. She also serves as co-chair of Epic’s Pediatric Emergency Medicine Steering Board, working to optimize EHR-related ED workflows nationally.
