Babetta Mathai, PhD, is a Pediatric Psychologist in the Department of Pediatric Psychology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Mathai completed her doctoral training in clinical psychology at Texas Tech University and completed her residency and postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Child/Pediatric Psychology at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center. She received specialized training in trauma-focused and behavior management and is certified to conduct Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Dr. Mathai is a team psychologist for the Burn/Trauma Program and provides consultation/liaison services to the pediatric intensive care and surgery services. She also serves as a psychologist for the Advanced Illness Management (or Palliative Care) team. Dr. Mathai also provides some outpatient therapy services for youth and families experiencing trauma-related symptoms following injury/hospitalization. She has experience in providing support for pediatric medical traumatic stress and is passionate about trauma-informed care. Dr. Mathai participates in all levels of training as a clinical supervisor.
