2022 Pediatric Home Care Conference

Supporting Home Care Staff. Elevating Patient Care.

Co-hosted by the Ohio Council for Home Care and Hospice. Attendees can register to attend either virtually or in person at Nationwide Children’s Hospital Conference Center. The first 100 to register for this event will receive a copy of Kim Regis’ book, “Meeting Just Fine – A Life-Changing Encounter.”

The intended audience includes nurses, social workers, hospice and palliative care providers, discharge planners, care coordinators, home health administrators, complex care providers, home health aides, pharmacists, occupational and physical therapists, chaplains, speech therapists and child life specialists.

Presentations include:

• Complex care patient needs: inpatient to home
• The journey to board certification in a sterile compounding pharmacy: why it’s needed in today’s climate of patient safety
• Successful hospice and palliative care plans: using an interdisciplinary team

Pediatric Dermatology Symposium

Presented in person from Nationwide Children's Hospital Conference Center

This in-person conference, hosted by Nationwide Children’s Dermatology Clinic team, highlights updates on pediatric dermatologic conditions frequently seen in primary care practice. The goal is to equip primary care providers with the knowledge and resources to confidently care for these patients within their setting.

Presentations include:

• Infantile hemangiomas: shifting management paradigms
• Not everything red is a hemangioma
• Dispel the myths: common misconceptions in pediatric dermatology
• Pediatric vulvar conditions
• Nursing showcase: what’s going on at Nationwide Children’s Dermatology
• Fever & rash in the pediatric patient: the bug vs. drug conundrum
• Approach to alopecia in the pediatric patient
• Newborn skin eruptions

2022 Neuroscience and Headache Symposium: Guidance for Pediatric and Family Practice

The 2022 Neuroscience and Headache Symposium will provide pediatric and family primary care providers with an opportunity to learn the most up-to-date best practices in neuroscience care and network with peers across the region. This year’s symposium features additional afternoon breakout talks focused on headache topics and management. Content applies to advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and other health care professionals who care for children, adolescents, and young adults with neurological problems.

• Tourette syndrome and functional movement disorder
• Febrile seizures

2022 Symposium on Sickle Cell Disease: Balancing the Risks and Benefits of Disease Modifying Therapies, Transplantation and Gene Therapy

Friday, November 11 – 12, 2022

Presented virtually and in person from Nationwide Children’s Hospital Conference Center

This symposium will provide information to our regional colleagues and our patients and families on current clinical trials and advances in the field of disease-modifying therapies (DMT), stem cell transplantation (SCT) and gene therapy in sickle cell disease (SCD). This symposium aims to critically analyze and review the pros and cons of these newer treatments, including curative options.

On Friday, November 11 is the Professional Track; and a Family Track is on Saturday, November 12. The purpose of the Family Track is to provide education to patients and families affected by sickle cell disease.

Presentations include:

• Living with sickle cell disease
• What’s new in matched sibling donor (MSD) for SCD
• Alternative donor transplant options
• Gene therapy for SCD

Simulation Center

Accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, Nationwide Children’s Simulation Program provides opportunities for various medical professionals to practice technical skills, medical judgment and collaborative teamwork. Simulation activities incorporate a variety of simulation modalities and methodologies, including state-of-the-art simulators, patient care environments, virtual reality and task trainers. The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Conference Center provides conference and meeting space for Nationwide Children’s hosted conferences, senior leadership and foundation events, and large meetings that cannot be accommodated in the Education Center.
