Maria Stamatakos

Maria Stamatakos, MD, is the medical director of Early Childhood Mental Health in the Division of Child and Family Psychiatry. She is the assistant professor of Psychiatry at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. In this role, she works closely with a multidisciplinary team of master’s level clinicians, occupational therapists and speech pathologists to provide evidence-based services to children from birth to kindergarten age. She is also involved in new program development and expansion for prevention and treatment services. Dr. Stamatakos also partnered with CDC Head Start to start the first Therapeutic Interagency Preschool Program for children who have experienced or are at high risk for preschool expulsion. Dr. Stamatakos completed the Combined Pediatrics, General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Bachelor of Natural Sciences from Xavier University, both in Cincinnati. Dr. Stamatakos’ professional interests include development, attachment and the effects of maltreatment on early childhood development.
