Maninder Kalra

Maninder Singh Kalra, MD, PhD, Named Director of Nationwide Children’s Pediatric Sleep Disorder Center

Maninder Singh Kalra, MD, PhD, has recently been named as director of Nationwide Children’s Pediatric Sleep Disorder Center. Dr. Kalra received his undergraduate and medical education at the Punjab University in India. He completed pediatric residency training at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital at the Punjab University. Dr. Kalra trained in pediatrics at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in New Jersey. His pediatric pulmonology fellowship was completed at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kalra also earned his MS and PhD in epidemiology at the University of Cincinnati. He is certified in pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine.

In 2009 he joined Midwest Sleep Medicine Consultants as the medical director; in 2016, he returned to academic medicine as the medical director of the sleep center at Dayton Children’s Hospital and was appointed chief of the Division of Sleep Medicine in 2018. While at Dayton Children’s, he grew the program substantially in scope and size. Dr. Kalra has published numerous articles on his work in sleep medicine. He also has experience teaching and lecturing at a regional, national and international level on a variety of pulmonary-related topics.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Kalra to the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as the new director of Sleep Medicine,” says Karen McCoy, MD, Chief, Division of Pulmonary Medicine. “Dr. Kalra was selected from a robust national search. Upon coming to Nationwide Children’s Hospital this July, he will lead a growing group composed of pediatric psychiatrists, psychologists, pulmonologists, neurologists, and a multidisciplinary team with expectations of guiding the clinical and academic growth of this program to its fullest potential. We are very enthusiastic about his arrival and the planned physical growth of our sleep clinics and laboratories."

Praveen Goday

Praveen Goday, MD, Named Director of the Nutrition and Feeding Programs

Praveen Goday, MD, is a pediatric gastroenterologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He is the director of the Nutrition and Feeding Programs, which provide nutrition care throughout the hospital system and care to children with feeding problems. He is a clinical professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University.

Dr. Goday is a graduate of Madras Medical College in India. He is board certified in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition. He is active at the national level in promoting pediatric nutrition. He is currently serving on the Committee on Nutrition of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the board of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN). Dr. Goday has been recognized by several societies for his work in pediatric nutrition and has received the Distinguished Nutrition Support Physician Service Award from ASPEN (2018), the Master Educator Award for sustained educational scholarship from the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) (2021) and Honorary Membership of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (2022). Dr. Goday’s research interests include diverse efforts to improve feeding, nutrition and growth in children with various disease states.

In 2019, Dr. Goday was the lead author of the paper that defined pediatric feeding disorder, which has served to unify this common but understudied condition. He has also co-authored important publications such as the original paper that identified the key concepts of pediatric malnutrition and the guidelines for nutrition provision to critically ill children. He has also edited two books: “Pediatric Critical Care Nutrition” and “Pediatric Nutrition for Dietitians.”
