Jeffrey M. Hoffman, MD

Biography

Jeffrey M. Hoffman, MD, is a physician and chief of the Division of Clinical Informatics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Hoffman attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, completed his pediatric residency at All Children's Hospital, and in 1995, completed his Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Children's Mercy Hospital in 1995. Dr. Hoffman came to Nationwide Children's Hospital in 2003 and is now Chief Medical Information Officer overseeing Nationwide Children's clinical information systems. He established the Division of Clinical Informatics 2016 and one of the nation's first ACGME-accredited clinical informatics fellowship training programs the following year.

With over 20 years of Emergency Department experience, Dr. Hoffman has long understood the value of information and information technology caring for patients and families, and in communicating with other healthcare professionals. Through the use of electronic health records and other technologies, Dr. Hoffman and his fellow physician informaticists support direct patient care activities, population health management programs, quality and safety initiatives, and various of research projects.
