Barbara K. Mackinaw-Koons, PhD

Barbara Mackinaw-Koons, PhD, is a clinical child psychologist with the Child Development Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and clinical associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. Dr. Koons’ clinical activities include diagnostic evaluations for Autism, psychological evaluations for more general behavioral and developmental issues, and treatment of disruptive behavior and mood and anxiety issues in children with developmental disabilities. She is a member of the Ohio Psychological Association’s Ethics Committee, a member of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Psychology Internship Training Committee, and a member of the Child Development Center’s Committee for Social Change. She also is a member of the Project ECHO team at Nationwide that disseminates information about an evidence-based parent training program for Autism to other providers across the country. She has previously served as the Director of Psychology Internship training at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and continues to provide supervision to interns in the intellectual and developmental disabilities internship track.

Prior to joining the Child Development Center, she was a faculty member in the outpatient Behavioral Health department at Nationwide Children’s and conducted routine psychological evaluations for learning issues, behavior, mood, and anxiety conditions as well as treatment for a variety of disruptive behavior disorders and internalizing conditions. She completed her internship training at Nationwide Children’s in the Child Clinical program and completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the Childhood Mood Disorders Lab at The Ohio State University.
