Barbara K. Mackinaw-Koons, PhD

Barbara Mackinaw-Koons, PhD, is a clinical child psychologist with the Child Development Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and clinical associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University. Dr. Koons’ clinical activities include diagnostic evaluations for Autism and other developmental disabilities as well as brief treatment of disruptive behavior and mood and anxiety issues in children with developmental disabilities. She also provides clinical supervision and precepting to trainees. She is Co-Chair of the Ohio Psychological Association’s Ethics Committee and a member of the Advocacy Committee. She is also a member of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Psychology Internship Training Committee and APA’s Disability Mentoring Program. She is the clinical lead for the CDC Quality Improvement team for treatment services. She also is the clinical lead for the Project ECHO RUBI initiatives. She has previously served as the Director of Psychology Internship training at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Prior to joining the Child Development Center, she was a faculty member in the outpatient Behavioral Health department at Nationwide Children’s and conducted routine psychological evaluations for learning issues, behavior, mood, and anxiety conditions as well as treatment for a variety of disruptive behavior disorders and internalizing conditions. She completed her internship training at Nationwide Children’s in the Child Clinical program and completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the Childhood Mood Disorders Lab at The Ohio State University.
