Biography

Amy Schlegel, MD, MS is the Section Chief of Neonatology at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Dr. Schlegel received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota. She completed her Pediatric residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, where she also earned a Master of Science degree in Medical Education. Dr. Schlegel practices Neonatology in the Newborn Intensive Care Units at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Nationwide Children's Hospital NICU at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Additionally, she sees patients in multidisciplinary prenatal consultation in The Fetal Center at Nationwide Children's. Dr. Schlegel has expertise in caring for medically complex newborns and supporting families in understanding and caring for their child following identification of critical or complex illness. She established the Perinatal Advanced Illness Management (AIM) program within the Fetal Center and works closely with the Advanced Illness Management Team and the Nationwide Children's Hospice and Home-based Palliative Care Program in this capacity.
