Biography

Melanie Kennedy, MD is a physician with the Division of Sports Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University.  She is board certified in pediatrics and sports medicine and serves as the team physician for Groveport Madison High School. 

Dr. Kennedy is a Westerville native and obtained her Bachelor of Science and Medial Degree from The Ohio State University. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center in Arizona. She returned to Nationwide Children’s to complete her fellowship in sports medicine. After several years working in sports medicine and orthopedics at other institutions, she returned to Nationwide Children’s in 2025 to join the sports medicine team. 

Dr. Kennedy is a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine and a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics. She enjoys treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, including non-surgical fracture, and sport related concussions. She has a special interest in injury prevention, athlete wellness and advocacy for pediatric health.
