Opus Awards $45,000 Grant to Nationwide Childrens Hospital Foundation

January 16, 2009

The Opus Foundation recently awarded a $45,000 grant to Nationwide Childrens Hospital Foundation to provide support for the hospitals Reach Out and Read program.

Reach Out and Read is a pediatric literacy program dedicated to encouraging family literacy activities prior to a childs entrance into the school system. Its goal is to increase the school-readiness skills of low income preschool children. As the program has expanded, so have its funding needs. This grant establishes a volunteer coordinator position vital to sustaining the structure of the volunteer program, and fosters new relationships with community, volunteer and school organizations.

Andy Weeks, vice president of Business Development for Opus and president of Nationwide Childrens Hospitals Development Board, is pleased Opus and Nationwide Childrens have collaborated to promote the awareness and importance of pediatric literacy. Reach Out and Read is a terrific program, and Opus is honored to be part of this community effort.
