Ryan S. Bode, MD, joined Nationwide Children’s Hospital in October 2016 as the Chief of Hospital Pediatrics. Born and raised in central Ohio and a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine, Dr. Bode was excited to return home along with his wife, Dr. Sara Bode, who also joined Nationwide Children’s as an ambulatory pediatrician, and their three children.

In Phoenix, he served as Associate Program Director of the Residency Program, Chief of the Hospitalist Division and Medical Director of Patient Safety and Quality. At Nationwide Children’s, Dr. Bode will lead growth and development within Hospital Pediatrics including the start of a fellowship program.
He has been active nationally including participation in the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Strategic Planning and Board Certification Committees which led to recognition by the American Board of Pediatrics as Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine as a board recognized specialty. He is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics PREP Hospital Medicine Self-Assessment Advisory Board as they develop initial PREP content for Pediatric Hospitalists.
