What to Expect

Our Services

Limited orthodontics is directed at a limited problem, or at only one aspect of a larger problem in which a decision is made to forego more comprehensive choices. For example, orthodontics to prepare for surgery may be considered limited.

Comprehensive orthodontics is provided to patients who have all or most of their permanent (adult) teeth. This treatment may improve appearance and function. Comprehensive orthodontics addresses problems with jaw and tooth alignment, impacted teeth or missing teeth. Treatment is tailored to the patient’s growth and individual needs.

Our orthodontists will discuss recommended treatment options with you.

Getting Started

Consultation: During this visit, we will review medical and dental history. We will complete an oral exam and determine readiness for orthodontic treatment. Our team will take X-rays and photographs of the teeth. The team may also take a scan or molds of the teeth.

Case Presentation: After we review the records, our orthodontists will provide a detailed plan for treatment and estimated time in treatment. Our Patient Care Coordinator will also discuss specifics on the cost of treatment.

Active Treatment: During this time, braces and/or appliances will be in place. Appointments will be scheduled periodically for adjustments until treatment is complete. Most patients are seen every 4 to 10 weeks.

Retention: Once Active Treatment is complete, you will enter the Retention phase. During this time, the teeth will be monitored for stability. Appointments may be scheduled periodically to monitor alignment and bite and to check any retainers that have been provided.

Observation: Appointments may be scheduled for observation to monitor growth and development or oral hygiene to determine when orthodontic treatment should begin.
