A Culture of Inclusion

As Ohio’s capital and the 14th largest city in the United States, Columbus boasts a diverse population and is home to one of the largest networks for young professionals in the country. Columbus has a large immigrant population and is home to the second largest and fastest growing Somali community in the United States. Our community is rich with social and advocacy networks for all races and religions, socioeconimic classes, and members of the LGBTQ community. We are proud to be recognized as a LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index.

At Nationwide Children’s we are deeply committed to the recruitment and retention of a diverse group of residents, fellows and faculty that reflects our patient population. We recognize and embrace the crucial role diverse staff play in addressing social determinants of health, quality and patient safety, genomic medicine, behavioral health and population health. Resident Diversity and Inclusion Coalition

The purpose of the Resident Diversity and Inclusion Coalition (RDIC) is to create an environment of inclusive excellence while increasing the diversity of our providers to be reflective of the patients we care for in central Ohio and around the world.
