Midhat S. Farooqi, MD, PhD

Biography

Midhat Farooqi, MD, PhD, is a Senior Director in the Clinical Genetics Laboratory of The Steve and Cindy Rasmussen Institute for Genomic Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a molecular pathologist, Dr. Farooqi interprets clinical genetic testing results, both somatic and germline, for pediatric patients with cancer and rare disease. Prior to coming to Nationwide Children’s, Dr. Farooqi served as the Director of Molecular Oncology at Children’s Mercy Kansas City and was also a Full Professor of Pathology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He received his medical and graduate degrees from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he also subsequently completed his residency in Clinical Pathology. He then did a fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pathology in Clinical Pathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology and is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society for Clinical Pathology. He is also a longstanding member of the Association for Molecular Pathology and the American Association for Cancer Research.
