Spotlight on Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE)

What is IPCE?

Interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) occurs when members from two or more professions learn with, from, and about each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes (ACCME, ACPE, ANCC 2015). Over the next several months, we will feature individual professions and focus on why IPCE is important to their success (and yours!)

Jennifer Reese

Impact of IPCE at Nationwide Children's for Psychology
By Jennifer B. Reese, PsyD

Psychology regularly attends and contributes to interprofessional education across the organization. Our Joint Accreditation to provide interprofessional education now gives us the platform and validation to award proper continuing education credit to psychologists for a wide variety of educational offerings throughout the organization. Psychologists are joining planning committees for new and established educational offerings and exploring new interprofessional education opportunities in a variety of settings. We are very excited to be able to continue to develop interprofessional relationships through education.

Jennifer Reese is a clinical child psychologist who has worked in Big Lots Behavioral Health Services at Nationwide Children's Hospital since 2013. Jennifer earned her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree in 2005 from the University of Denver. She completed an APA-accredited internship and subsequent fellowship at a community mental health agency in the Akron/Canton area. Jennifer became the manager of Behavioral Health’s newly formed education team in July 2016, and the team has grown from three educators to 20 education staff over the five years it has existed. Jennifer serves on the IPCE Education Committee, as well as the IPCE Advisory Committee as the psychology representative.
